
Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) and Asia International University (AIU) of Uzbekistan have officially entered into a collaborative partnership to enhance student exchanges and joint campus initiatives. This partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by WUST Chancellor and Chairman, Abubokor Hanip, and AIU Rector, Dexkanov Suxrob Sobirovich, during a ceremony at the WUST campus in Alexandria, Virginia, USA.
Ahead of the signing, AIU Rector Sobirovich, accompanied by Dr. Kishan Bhandari, Dean of International Students, attended a briefing session in the WUST conference room. The session, chaired by WUST President Dr. Hasan Karaburk, introduced the university leadership to the AIU delegation. The event was attended by WUST's Chief Financial Officer Farhana Hanip, Vice President Dr. Zafer Pirim, Dr. Shane Cho, School of IT Director Prof. Apostolos Eliopoulos, School of Business Director Dr. Mark Robinson, Director of Compliance Mamoon Wahab and other academic leaders and departmental heads. Chief of Staff Rachele Rose delivered a presentation on WUST’s vision and initiatives.
AIU Rector Sobirovich praised WUST’s mission, vision, and student-centered approach, emphasizing its role in preparing students for successful careers. "We will work together to achieve our shared goals," he stated. He also expressed interest in establishing a WUST mini-campus within AIU’s premises in Bukhara as part of this collaboration.
In his address, WUST Chancellor Abubokor Hanip commended AIU’s commitment to education in Uzbekistan and highlighted the immense potential of this partnership. "This collaboration will create opportunities for mutual growth," he said.
He also emphasized WUST’s ‘Triple Mission’—Degree, Skills, and Career—stating, "Our faculty members are both industry experts and scholars, bringing the latest technologies and skills into the classroom. As a result, our graduates are equipped with both knowledge and practical expertise, making them highly competitive in today’s job market."
President Dr. Hasan Karaburk reinforced WUST’s guiding principles, known as the "Triple A" approach—Accredited, Affordable, and Accessible—underscoring the university’s commitment to quality education.
Additional remarks were delivered by WUST CFO Farhana Hanip, Director of Compliance Mamoon Wahab, and AIU’s Dean of International Students, Dr. Kishan Bhandari, further strengthening the spirit of collaboration between the two institutions.
