“Three, two, one- WUST Go!” echoed through the room as enthusiastic cheers led by Dr. Shane Choe filled the air. Faculty and staff of Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) came together on Tuesday evening for a special Staff Appreciation Dinner held at the campus cafeteria.

Hosted by WUST Chancellor and Chair Abubokor Hanip and Chief Financial Officer Farhana Hanip, the event was attended by WUST President Dr. Hasan Karaburk, Board Member Siddique Sheikh, Vice President (Academic) Dr. Jeffery Pirim, Vice President (Operations) Dr. Shane Choe, along with other members of the university leadership.

In his remarks, Chancellor Abubokor Hanip praised the collective efforts of WUST leadership and staff, acknowledging their dedication and contributions to the university’s continued progress. “This is not a one-man show,” he said. “From top to bottom, everyone has worked hard to make this journey successful.” He also expressed his deep appreciation for President Dr. Hasan Karaburk, highlighting his unwavering commitment, leadership, and vision in advancing the university to the next level with the support of the entire team.

CFO Farhana Hanip thanked the faculty and staff for their dedication and emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong sense of family within the WUST community.

President Dr. Hasan Karaburk expressed his gratitude to all staff members for their continuous support and willingness to take on additional responsibilities, particularly during the recent ACCSC visit. He also extended special thanks to the School Directors and Department Heads for effectively leading their teams and ensuring the success of the efforts.

Board Member Siddique Sheikh commended the WUST leadership for organizing such a meaningful event, noting that gatherings like these strengthen bonds and foster unity - key elements of institutional success.

Several faculty and staff members shared their reflections during the event, including School of Business Director Dr. Mark Robinson, Assistant Director Dr. Amalisha Aridi, Dr. Sergei Andronikov, Prof. Golam Mostafa, School of IT Assistant Director Dr. Touhid Bhuiyan, Lead Faculty Dr. Necmi Mutlu, Prof. Mahmood Menon Khan, General Education Professor Dr. Salman Edbadour, Student Services Director Janet Chang, Chief of Staff Rachele Rose, Director of Compliance Mamoon Wahab, and Director of the Veteran Resource Center Dr. Nate Perry.

Speakers consistently emphasized the value of working together to grow together and expressed their appreciation for the supportive and collaborative work environment at WUST. Many shared their pride and happiness in being part of the WUST family.

The evening also featured a variety of delicious Indian cuisine, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The dinner, which began at 5:00 PM and continued until 8:00 PM, provided an opportunity for colleagues to connect, share conversations, and enjoy quality time together in a relaxed setting.

“Every year, we look forward to this event,” said Juhi, one of the youngest members of the WUST team. “It not only offers delicious food but also gives us a chance to spend quality time with our colleagues.” She added, “We are truly grateful to Chancellor Abubokor Hanip and CFO Farhana Hanip for arranging this wonderful appreciation dinner.”
